There are on average 22 current or discharged military people a day committing suicide. Tusculum has a class open only to veterans, of any age, branch of service or prior rank. It is important for our returning warriors to find a “safe” place for them to express themselves about their prior experiences. In his book, On Combat, Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, chaplain at the Charles Wright Academy, writes that healing is found in “the power of telling our stories honestly in a trusted circle of compatriots. What a remarkably miraculous salvation, yet profound as grace: men can be healed through telling their stories in community!”
Veterans desire to find somebody who is there for them and supports them. This is crucial. So, if you are a veteran, come join us. We as fellow veterans are looking forward to seeing you here. Our class begins at 10:30 each Sunday morning.
