Culture, Manners, And Customs In The Bible
Audience: Any
Location: Adult Chapel

What was daily life like in Bible times?  What did people wear?  What did they eat?  How did they exercise justice?  How did they mourn?  How did they view family and legal customs?  Exactly who were the Herodians, Sadducees, Pharisees, and Essenes?  Have you ever wondered why things occurred the way they did in the Bible?  Lots of questions crop up when you study the Bible.  For answers, you need insight into the Bible’s culture, its people and how they lived.  This study of culture, mannerisms, and customs of the Bible should help you to contextually understand and interpret the whole Bible better.

Intimate Conversations Between A Man and His God
Audience: Men Only
Location: Adult 6

Talking with God directly is one of the richest blessings He has bestowed upon us and yet sadly, many of us are uncomfortable with this.  Often we don’t pray as we ought because it feels awkward, or perhaps we are overwhelmed with the whole idea of talking with God. We’re afraid of choosing the wrong words or “not doing it right”.  We will spend time encouraging one another to develop a prayer life of intimate conversation with God, our Father.  We will look at some biblical examples of men, noting what and how they prayed.  We will discuss practical ways to nurture our prayer lives, with the goal of developing a more personal relationship with God.

Jonathan Goode

John: God in the Flesh
Audience: College
Location: Portable A

A textual study of the first 10 chapters in the Gospel of John.  We will focus on the meaning of the life of Christ as opposed to only studying the facts of His actions.  Examples will be given to examine our lives and mold them to the example of Jesus.
